Self-adjoint commuting differential operators of rank two
This is a survey of results on self-adjoint commuting ordinary differential operators of rank two. In particular, the action of automorphisms of the first Weyl algebra on the set of commuting differential operators with polynomial coefficients is discussed, as well as the problem of constructing algebro-geometric solutions of rank l > 1 of soliton equations. متن کاملDiagonals of Self-adjoint Operators
The eigenvalues of a self-adjoint n×n matrix A can be put into a decreasing sequence λ = (λ1, . . . , λn), with repetitions according to multiplicity, and the diagonal of A is a point of R that bears some relation to λ. The Schur-Horn theorem characterizes that relation in terms of a system of linear inequalities. We prove an extension of the latter result for positive trace-class operators on ...
متن کاملTriviality of a Trace on the Space of Commuting Trace-class Self-adjoint Operators
In the present article, we investigate a possibility of a real-valued map on the space of tuples of commuting trace-class self-adjoint operators, which behaves like the usual trace map on the space of trace-class linear operators. It turns out that such maps are related with continuous group homomorphisms from the Milnor’s K-group of the real numbers into the additive group of real numbers. Usi...
متن کاملA Taylor-like Expansion of a Commutator with a Function of Self-adjoint, Pairwise Commuting Operators
LetA be a ν-vector of self-adjoint, pairwise commuting operators andB a bounded operator of classCn0 (A). We prove a Taylor-like expansion of the commutator [B, f(A)] for a large class of functions f : Rν → R, generalising the one-dimensional result where A is just a self-adjoint operator. This is done using almost analytic extensions and the higher-dimensional Helffer-Sjöstrand formula.
متن کاملCommuting Self-Adjoint Extensions of Symmetric Operators Defined from the Partial Derivatives
We consider the problem of finding commuting self-adjoint extensions of the partial derivatives { 1 i ∂ ∂xj : j = 1, . . . , d } with domain C c (Ω) where the self-adjointness is defined relative to L (Ω), and Ω is a given open subset of R. The measure on Ω is Lebesgue measure on R restricted to Ω. The problem originates with I.E. Segal and B. Fuglede, and is difficult in general. In this paper...
